“This renewed Platinum award, and in particular our best result to date, demonstrate that we are making continuous progress in further developing our sustainability performance,” says Dr Céline Bilolo, Chief Sustainability Officer and Head of the Sustainability Business Unit at TÜV SÜD. “For TÜV SÜD, sustainability is an integral part of our corporate strategy and our day-to-day operations. The fact that we have been able to improve further, particularly in the areas of the environment and labour and human rights, is a testament to the many measures being implemented across the company worldwide. At the same time, we see this result as an incentive to continue steadfastly on our path.”
Consistent commitment to the environment and people
Compared with the previous year, TÜV SÜD has made significant improvements in the areas of environmental protection and labour and human rights, achieving its highest ever scores in these areas. Activities include, amongst other things, the continuous development of global environmental and energy management, the systematic recording and transparent communication of emissions data, and the integration of human rights due diligence obligations into business processes.
TÜV SÜD also pursues science-based targets in its climate strategy. The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) has validated the company’s climate targets. TÜV SÜD has therefore committed to reducing its absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030 compared to the 2023 baseline. A reduction target of 25 per cent applies to selected Scope 3 emissions. In the long term, TÜV SÜD aims to achieve net-zero emissions across the entire value chain by 2050.
EcoVadis creates transparency
EcoVadis is one of the world’s leading providers of sustainability assessments for companies. Its assessments are based on an evidence-based analysis of sustainability performance in the areas of the environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The results provide comparability and transparency, helping companies to systematically integrate sustainability considerations into their supply chains. Around 150,000 companies in some 175 countries have their sustainability performance assessed by EcoVadis.
