A hot hatch that sends pulses racing, or quite simply: a real ‘fun-to-drive car’! That’s exactly what the new Opel Corsa GSE is. Now also officially – the independent editorial team of Carwow Germany has honoured the new all-electric everyday sports car with the ‘Carwow Car of the Year Award 2027’ and named it ‘fun-to-drive car’. Once again, the Corsa GSE has proven that it excites the public and experts alike. The powerful electric car recently celebrated its motor show debut at the Paris Motor Show and generated an overwhelming media response during its launch event. With the ‘Carwow Car of the Year Award 2027’ from the high-reach online platform for new and used cars, the Corsa GSE – which is already available to order – has now secured its first major accolade.

From 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds: No current production Opel accelerates faster
The new Corsa GSE is a hot hatch in its purest form and impressively lives up to its acronym, which stands for ‘Grand Sport Electric’ or, alternatively, ‘goosebumps, speed and emotions’. Thus, the high-performance version of Germany’s and United Kingdom’s most popular small car has everything you could wish for: With a lowered chassis, Torsen limited-slip differential, 207 kW (281 hp) and 345 Newton metres of torque, the newcomer offers just as much electric power as the Mokka GSE. But the Corsa GSE flexes its muscles a little more. Because it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds – faster than any other current production Opel! Drivers can accelerate to 180 km/h on a clear German Autobahn. The performance is underlined by an active sports sound developed exclusively for the new Corsa GSE, which accompanies the driving experience depending on acceleration and speed. This makes the performance audible to the driver and passengers.
The new Opel Corsa GSE conveys its high-performance credentials from the very first glance. The most powerful production Corsa so far boasts a host of GSE details, ranging from the specific front bumper and distinctive black claddings to the rear spoiler and sporty 18-inch alloy wheels on the outside, right through to the interior with performance seats featuring integrated headrests and the GSE logo.
At the same time, the Opel engineers have ensured that, despite its sporty nature, the all-electric Corsa GSE retains its suitability for everyday use. As such, it is not only suitable as a fun-to-drive car, but also makes for a pleasant road trip companion, as demonstrated by its journey from Zaragoza to Paris. And like every electric Corsa, the hot hatch offers a load volume of 267 to 1,042 litres. Standard equipment details such as the heated seats and steering wheel as well as the 180-degree reversing camera, navigation system, adaptive cruise control and the Keyless Entry & Start system increase comfort and safety. And if Corsa GSE drivers want to power external devices this can be supplied from the vehicle battery thanks to the bidirectional onboard charger (V2L)2. In this way, the new Corsa GSE combines the best of both worlds: it is an exciting ‘fun-to-drive’ car that also handles everyday life with ease.
This year marked the fifth edition of the ‘Carwow Car of the Year Awards’. The expert jury assessed vehicles across eleven categories. The assessment took into account factors such as price and performance, design, interior, sustainability, efficiency, comfort and practicality.
