GELITA showcases ingredients for pet food innovations

GELITA is presenting its broad portfolio of natural ingredients for pet food at this year's Interzoo in Nuremberg. The high-quality fats, proteins, minerals and collagen peptides offer a wide range of possibilities to facilitate production processes, improve nutritional profiles and create pet food with added health benefits. The focus this year is on PETAGILE® – an active ingredient that helps improve the agility and mobility of dogs, horses and cats. The company will also be demonstrating the technological advantages that its functional proteins GELIPRO® BIND bring to the manufacturing process. For example, with their water-binding and emulsifying properties, they contribute to stable and appealing textures in dry and moist clean label products.

The degenerative joint disease osteoarthritis is widespread among pets. To help animals stay healthy and mobile, GELITA has developed an innovative active ingredient for the regeneration of joint cartilage. The specific Bioactive Collagen Peptides (BCP®) in PETAGILE® promote the metabolism of the joint cartilage and thus help counteract age- and stress-related wear and tear of the joints. With their neutral odor and taste, as well as their excellent solubility, the collagen peptides are suitable for numerous wet and dry feed concepts with additional health benefits.

Ingredients with specific technological functions help to facilitate pet food production processes while ensuring the desired texture and appearance of the final product. With GELIPRO® BIND, GELITA offers a functional protein that has outstanding water-binding and emulsifying properties. In addition, it enables the formation of thermoreversible gels and acts as a natural adhesive that binds the various components of the pet food together. Among other things, it provides increased stability and variable texture in wet food.
