Opel Mokka-e: Stylish SUV Leads Opel’s Fast-Charging Line-up

(lifePR) (Rüsselsheim, )
.
  • Opel Mokka-e best-selling vehicle in its segment in Germany in October
  • Mokka-e accounts for 56 percent of all Mokka sales on home market
  • Opel models from Corsa-e to Vivaro-e equipped for 100 kW DC fast-charging
  • 11 kW on-board charger for three-phase AC charging
  • Variety of recharging options, from wallbox or domestic socket to “Universal Charger”
With 12 electrified models already available today, Opel is well on its way to delivering on its promise of becoming a fully electric brand in Europe by 2028. And one model that embodies this ongoing transformation perfectly is the Opel Mokka. Not only was it the first Opel to wear the new brand face, the Opel Vizor, it was also the first Opel with the fully digitised Pure Panel cockpit. In addition, it was the first Opel available at the start of sales with fully electric drive as well as highly efficient combustion engines, thus giving customers the choice of which drive suits their needs best – and that choice is increasingly becoming electric. In October, the Mokka-e was the best-selling battery-electric B-SUV on the important German home market and was responsible for 56 percent of Mokka sales.

The Opel Mokka-e, winner of the renowned Golden Steering Wheel1 in Germany in 2021, impresses not only with its bold and pure design, but also with its performance. The electric motor with 100 kW/136 hp and 260 Newton metres of maximum torque delivers a powerful, almost silent drive. Up to 338 kilometres of locally emissions-free travel are possible on a single charge of the 50 kWh battery according to WLTP2. The electronically limited top speed is 150 km/h. A state-of-the-art regenerative braking system makes the Mokka-e even more efficient, allowing the electric vehicle to recuperate energy during deceleration or braking. The battery can be quickly “refilled” to 80 per cent state-of-charge in around 30 minutes at a 100 kW DC charging station.

This fast-charging capability is a staple of Opel’s extensive battery-electric passenger car and light commercial vehicle line-up. No matter whether a customer chooses a Corsa-e, a Mokka-e, a Combo-e Life, a Zafira-e Life, a Combo-e or a Vivaro-e – they are always able to charge the battery with up to 100 kW DC at a public charging station – as standard and regardless of the vehicle class.

In addition, the Opel battery-electric vehicles are ready for other charging options, for example three-phase AC at 11 kW, via wallbox or cable for the domestic plug socket. Furthermore, the “Universal Charger” with infrastructure-specific adapters allows charging at nearly all local plug sockets and public charging stations. The Universal Charger unites the functions of “Mode 2” and “Mode 3” cables with various adapters in a single device. Customers can connect the charger to nearly all country specific household plug sockets. The Universal Charger is therefore ideal for customers who normally charge their car overnight at home and for those who occasionally make longer journeys and need to recharge while travelling.

In order to make driving even more relaxing, “OpelConnect” and the “myOpel” app offer special solutions for electric vehicles. For example, with the “myOpel” app, range and charging status can be checked and the charging start time at a wallbox at home can be programmed. Another comfort plus: owners can also conveniently preselect air conditioning and heating from the couch using the “myOpel” app.

Given the wide range of charging options offered combined with easier access to charging facilities and the special solutions available, e.g. via the “myOpel” app, Opel’s ongoing transition to becoming a fully electric brand is built on solid, future-proof and sustainable foundations.
