- You’ll never walk alone: Opel wishes brand ambassador Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool FC all the best for the Champions League final
- Honest, approachable, unique: Successful manager embodies Opel values
- Reliable: Jürgen Klopp has stood for Opel for many years
Sincere, approachable, reliable, somebody who stands by everything he says and does and a member of an elite group of manager who have reached the Champions League final with two clubs – this is Jürgen Klopp. His players have appreciated his approach for many years – just like we at Opel do. The successful manager is so much more than a brand ambassador. He embodies the Opel values like no other – since a time when nobody would have expected it.
Opel and Jürgen Klopp have been partners since the summer of 2012 when the likeable and charismatic coach joined the Rüsselsheim-based carmaker as its brand ambassador. The former Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund coach, who joined Liverpool in October 2015, has played a key part in Opel’s positive brand development in the last six years. Since 2012, he has featured in around 20 TV adverts in addition to numerous other commitments ranging from visits to the Family Cup to appearances at the Frankfurt Motor Show or the Hessentag event in Rüsselsheim.
Authentic campaigns – that make people smile
Ever since joining Opel, Klopp has impressed with his emotional and humorous appearances in the company’s advertising campaigns. In one of his first outings, he tested the “video parking referee” and came to the conclusion that the car is clearly “in”. Numerous other appearances followed such as in the advert for LED headlights of the Mokka X when the film crew anxiously awaits his arrival and he simply comments that the light conditions are still perfect.
Friends and colleagues are also often the “victims” of his sense of humour. In another advert he takes actor Bettina Zimmermann’s Mokka X for a test drive and returns it covered in mud. However, she manages to get her own back in the latest campaign for the Grandland X and for the Crossland X. And for once, the Liverpool manager is the one lost for words.
Despite now living in the UK, Klopp still insists on driving an Opel and marked his 50th birthday last year by signing a long-term contract extension with the Rüsselsheim-based brand. Hi often labels Opel models as a “bullseye” – which is exactly what his untiring commitment for the brand is for Opel. Therefore, we wish him and his players all the best for Saturday and: You’ll never walk alone!
