Global Fashion from 22 to 24 July 2007 – the international special fair for contract production/CMT, sourcing and Private Label production

Ten Ethiopian clothing companies participating for the first time

(lifePR) (Düsseldorf, )
Major changes and the unrelenting search for reliable, attractively-priced and socially/ethically-responsible production locations and countries will also continue to characterize global clothing sourcing in the next few years. For China’s South- Eastern neighbour, Vietnam, joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO) on 1 January 2007 already opened up new perspectives and is now ensuring an influx of interesting buyers from all over the world. Established North African sourcing countries such as Egypt, Tunisia or Morocco must expect new competitors from the African continent. In this context a joint stand with 10 exhibitors from Ethiopia is thus also one of the new attractions at the Global Fashion special fair from 22 to 24 July 2007. This time it is located in Hall 4 at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre.

This internationally introduced special fair for CMT, sourcing and private label production, held within the framework of the Igedo Fashion Fairs Düsseldorf parallel to the CPD Düsseldorf, HMD Düsseldorf and Body Look international fashion fairs, is being used by foreign and German buyers from all segments and sectors of industry: industry, chain store companies and other large sales/marketing forms of the trade, but also importers and exporters of clothing, accessoires, materials and fabrics. The high significance of this trade fair platform for the sourcing clothing sector is also confirmed by the data collected by an independent market research company in connection with the fair in February 2007. According to the survey, 90 percent of the visitors travelled from Germany as well as the other European countries especially for Global Fashion. A similarly high proportion has already announced that they intend to visit the fair once again in July 2007.

380 exhibitors with summer fashion and quick-availability items

Compared to the previous year’s fair in July 2006, with 380 exhibitors from 12 nations, Global Fashion has been able to match the last event’s exhibitor figures. On the one hand, the event is presenting the collections for the Spring/Summer 2008 season, on the other, short-term availability collections, which are also individually coordinated with the buyers, are however also playing a role at Global Fashion for the forthcoming Autumn/Winter 2007/2008 season. Among the newcomers in the 380 exhibitors there are ten companies from Ethiopia alone. They are making their debut on the European market within the framework of a joint stand organized by the Federal Agency for Technical Cooperation (Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit - GTZ), Eschborn, and are seeking to demonstrate their capabilities and potential at Global Fashion. This is because the Ethiopian companies see themselves in future as attractively priced and reliable alternative suppliers to companies in the Far Eastern countries. In addition, they are expanding the exhibitor spectrum at Global Fashion to not only include the future attractive sourcing continent of Africa, but also with regard to the products offered: in addition to women’s and children’s outerwear, polos, T-shirts and men’s suits, some companies are also offering contract production (CMT) for the worldwide growth market of Corporate Wear.

Bangladesh, one of the winning countries among the Far Eastern sourcing regions following the reintroduction of temporary China quotas for various textile and clothing products, is causing quite a stir at the forthcoming Global Fashion with an impressive total of 30 exhibitors. The range presented by the companies covers knitwear and jeans in particular. The companies’ participation at the fair in the fashion metropolis on the Rhine has been organized by the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau.

With a joint stand, the Investment & Trade Promotion Center of Ho Chi Minh City is promoting the fair participation by four clothing suppliers from Vietnam. India is once again represented by Ahujasons Shawlwale, the large Indian accessoires manufacturer and Silk Appeal. This company has won the Indian Export Promotion Council Annual Award on 12 consecutive occasions. Pakistan will be represented at Global Fashion via the country’s two largest jeans and casualwear manufacturers: Mushtaq, a regular exhibitor for many years, and Noor. The Conquest company represents Japan’s colours and is presenting knitwear, which was produced in China.

12 organizations and associations from China

Accounting for approximately two thirds of the exhibitors, the People’s Republic of China is once again providing the largest exhibitor contingent at Global Fashion. The exhibitors from different regions of the country were selected by 12 national organizations and associations from China. Participating for the first time is a group consisting of 10 Chinese clothing suppliers from Xiamen, whose participation at Global Fashion has been organized by Shin Hwa Sun Expo Service. The other exhibitors involved in joint presentations represent the organizations/associations, which have already been participating at fairs for many years

• China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles (CCCT),
• China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Jiangsu Sub-Council
(CCPIT Jiangsu),
• China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Ningbo Sub-Council
(CCPIT Ningbo),
• China Foreign Trade Guangzhou Exhibition Corporation,
• China International Exhibition Center Group Corp (CIEC),.
• Chinatex Advertising & Exhibition Corp.,
• Fujian Foreign Economic Service Trade Corp.,
• Jiangsu United Asia International Exhibition Company,
• Shanghai Dail Exhibition Service,
• Shanghai Yanxiang Expo as well as
• Shanghai Yadong Exhibition Service.

Several Chinese companies from these organizations have in turn decided to position themselves in the product groups within the clearly structured fair layout plan according to the following categories: accessoires, separates, fabrics, jeans & casuals, children’s clothing/children’s wear, leather, overcoats & jackets, menswear, knitwear and underwear. Others are continuing to show their products within the joint stands.

Seminars and relaxation within the Global Fashion Lounge meeting point

The core of Global Fashion is the Global Fashion Lounge. Situated in the heart of Hall 4 (Stand No. E 40-46/G 39-45), it serves all participants at the fair as a quiet, relaxed information and communication meeting place for discussions and meetings or simply to just relax and have a cup of tea or coffee. On the second day of the fair the now established Happy Hour will be held in the Global Fashion Lounge (from 18.00 hrs). The Igedo Company, the organizer of Global Fashion, is inviting exhibitors and visitors to the event.

Monday, 23 July 2007, 17.00 hrs, is the date for the first staging of the “Global Sourcing Today and Tomorrow” experts’ discussion. Buyers and sourcing professionals from the industry and trade will hold discussions on the actual and target situation in relation to the present and future attractive sourcing markets all over the world, in which Basics and Hot-Fashion Items can be produced and purchased corresponding to the different product and supply rhythms, retail and consumer requirements.

A well-frequented and long-standing, established classic in the comprehensive information and service package tailored by the Igedo Company to Global Fashion, is the “Market Changes Fashion 2008 and the Effects on Sourcing and Production” seminar. Hermann Fuchslocher from the management consulting company of the same name, HFU Hermann Fuchslocher Unternehmensberatung, Düsseldorf, will shed light on and explain the latest trends and developments and aso indicate possible strategies for the future for interested participants from Germany and abroad. This seminar will be held on the Sunday of the fair at 14.00 hrs in German and at 17.00 hrs in English in the Global Fashion Lounge. Participation in the seminar is free of charge.

The Igedo Fashion Fairs Düsseldorf will showcase a total of 1,770 exhibitors from 51 countries in the exhibition halls of the Düsseldorf Exhibtion Centre and at Düsseldorf Fashion Houses 1 + 2.
