Successful 2010 Piano Salon

Dealers in high spirits / Steingraeber & Söhne sees increased orders

(lifePR) (Bayreuth, ) With five innovations and a 50+ percent increase in orders over the 2008 trade fair.... the new ambience of the Piano Salon at the Frankfurt Music Fair was totally successful. The prevailing positive mood among visiting professionals was the best indication that our industry is on its way out of the crisis. As compared with 2008, Steingraeber's trade-fair exhibits generated an 11 percent increase in orders for the first quarter of 2010, up 46 percent from 2009. The Bayreuth piano maker realizes that such increases cannot continue for the entire year. Yet it is gratifying to note that overall market observations show more pronounced recovery in sales of high-end pianos and grands than for lesser-quality instruments.

At the center of attention was the Steingraeber E-272 Concert Grand. Nevertheless, our moderately-priced studio versions of the mid-sized D-232 and C-212 grand pianos were continuously surrounded by groups of interested players. The A-170 Phoenix was an outstanding hit, thanks to its incredibly opulent sound and the presence of its inventor, Richard Dain. The charming, 81-year-old engineer and his partner, Geoffrey Sapsford, answered technical questions during the whole of the music fair!

The playful models, especially the 138, 130 and 122 uprights, met with great interest, acclaim ... and a bit of opposition to their design. Yet they were in no way eclipsed by the grands, as has sometimes come to our attention in recent years. The trend towards high-class, large concert pianos has apparently been revived!

The new "design" of the 2010 Piano Salon was incomparably better than anything Frankfurt has mounted in the past. And that's why Steingraeber & Söhne is in favor of preserving the biennial Piano Salon pattern.

At long last! A politician who is at the same time pianist - now she was elected as Piano Player of the Year 2010: Agnes Krumwiede, speaker of cultural and educational policy of the Green Party in the German Parliament will perform during the 'Bayreuther Klavierfestival' at the Steingraeber Haus in July 2011. Her first piano was a Steingraeber & Söhne piano 122 K . . . in entirely natural finish. photo: Agnes Krumwiede during her visit at the Steingraeber booth in Frankfurt.
