As a result of the Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Social Cohesion decree on March 11, 2020, cancelling events and the remarks made by Lord Mayor Burkhard Jung at the City of Leipzig press conference on March 12, 2020 – as well as the general decree of the City of Leipzig to contain the further spread of SARS-CoV-2 (Coronavirus) for the protection of visitors and employees, the City of Leipzig’s Cultural Municipal Entities have decided to cancel all their events. This regulation applies with immediate effect up to and including April 10, 2020.
After a thorough examination by the persons responsible, the Cultural Municipal Entities came to the conclusion that the criteria of the Robert Koch Institute for the risk mitigation of such events (such as the complete registration of all guests by the organizer and verification by municipal health authorities before the start of the event) cannot be implemented.
Tickets and subscriptions already purchased for cancelled events will be refunded by all of the cultural entities. Information on the reimbursement procedures and the events concerned can be found on the respective websites and at the box offices.
Private and non-commercial event organizers must report their events to the public order office (Ordnungsamt) of the City of Leipzig. The public order office and the municipal health authorities check whether the obligations arising from the directives of the City of Leipzig are complied with and whether the event can be held in accordance with the strict application of the criteria of the Robert Koch Institute for large-scale events.
