The new bedroom wing increases capacity by 36 rooms from 47 to 83 and includes five new bedroom suites. This will be joined at the end of the year by a luxurious Health Club & Spa to rival the best in Scotland. At the same time, a new state of the art conference and banqueting suite for up to 200 delegates will come on line to supplement the existing corporate facilities.
Ronnie MacKay, who has been General Manager at the Edinburgh hotel for eight years, is overseeing the investment by parent-company Hand Picked Hotels.
Ronnie explained: "It is very rewarding to hear that our guests are so positive about the new bedrooms. We have been convinced from the beginning that the additional rooms would be well received by guests, particularly the LCD TV panels above the bathtubs and this has been the case.
"We are really looking forward to the year ahead, especially when the new conference and banqueting suite and spa opens."
The new spa will provide exclusive treatments in seven treatment rooms, an 18m x 7m indoor swimming pool, an eight-person hydrotherapy pool, as well as a new health and fitness suite with personal trainers.
