Petra Rob, General Manager at the METRO Group, Düsseldorf, and responsible for Corporate Communications of the world’s third largest wholesaling and retailing group, has requested the new Chairman of the Group’s Management Board, Dr. Eckhard Cordes, to release her from her functions. Cordes has taken note of Mrs. Rob’s decision to discontinue her activity on behalf of the METRO Group with respect and appreciation and thanked her for her, literally "extraordinary performance to the benefit of the company".
Mrs. Rob joined the METRO Group in 2001. During her term of office the company pursued its consistent orientation to the capital market, successful internationalization and moved up to rank 3 in the worldwide retailing business.
Rob put corporate communications on an international track and helped position the METRO Group as a leader in innovations and international pioneer in the world of commerce. Mrs. Rob and her team earned a number of awards from institutions and associations of the communications and advertising industry in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
CEO Cordes emphasized: "The METRO Group owes a debt of gratitude to Petra Rob for her performance. I regret very much that she has made up her mind to leave the corporation, but I respect her decision. I do hope that Mrs. Rob will remain in amicable contact with METRO Group."
Mrs. Rob is ending her work for the company with effect from 15 November 2007. Mr. Jürgen Homeyer will take responsibility for Corporate Communications on an interim basis.
