An impression of the high priority given to mobile strategies as part of corporate IT is given by the results of a poll conducted by the USA's renowned Gartner, Inc IT research and consultancy company, which was published in January. The opinions of more than 2,000 CIOs from different sectors in 41 countries show that digital technologies have moved up into the top 5 most important tasks and objectives facing companies in 2013 - behind growth, operative result optimisation, cost reduction and new business. On the list of IT priorities, mobile technologies have reached second place - behind analytics and followed by cloud computing in third place. On the first day of the M-Days Congress, Annette Zimmermann, Principal Analyst of Gartner Germany, will discuss the influences mobile devices and operating systems are already having and which trends in this field will be relevant in the near future. Also taking part in the panel on the 'Smartphone & iOS battle: a difficult choice' will be speakers from Deutsche Telekom, Microsoft Germany, Adobe Systems and 'aperto move' who will discuss devices, operating systems and development.
One of the main challenges facing the business world is to bring mobile business solutions together with the right strategies:
"According to a current IDC Report, half of all West European companies have no mobile strategy although over 90 percent of them are involved with the subject", says Jürgen Röhricht, Mobility Director at SAP Germany. "In this connection, it is essential to have a clear timetable showing which mobile applications can be introduced to make the greatest contribution to corporate success and when. In addition to applications for employees, apps for business partners and consumers will bring the greatest benefits for the company in the next step." SAP will show exactly how companies should implement their mobile strategy at M-Days. In the same panel entitled 'A job half done is a job not done - mobile enterprise solutions', speakers from T-Systems International, conVISUAL, Robert Bosch, Deutsche Post and GML Gesellschaft für mobile Lösungen will look at the use of mobile solutions in the fields of sales and marketing, corporate marketing, sales structures, sales management and document management.
The congress will also review new business models in the field of machine-to-machine communication (M2M), the market volume of which is expected to rise by a third according to a prognosis by Germany's Steria Mummert IT consultants. The focus in this case is on tomorrow's car, which will be linked to the internet, relieve the driver of much work and offer additional services. Among the speakers offering insights into current networked-vehicle developments, mobility and other M2M business models outside the automotive sector will be representatives of the Ford Research Centre Aachen, M2M-Alliance, Mobile Software AG and M-Way Solutions.
On the second day of the congress, international keynote speakers will give lectures on mobile-enterprise subjects. Thus, David Gosen, European Managing Director Digital, Online & Mobile, at the Nielsen market-research company, will explain what is necessary to establish mobile communications as an effective, efficient and secure corporate tool. In the subsequent panel discussion, Martin Ott, Managing Director Northern Europe, Facebook, Gavin Stirrat, Managing Director, EMEA, Millennial Media, Stephanie de Bodinat, Global Mobile Strategy Manager, Adidas, and Lars-Christian Weisswange, Vice President West Europe, Huawei, will examine the influence of mobile technologies on the market and the companies involved.
The M-Days exhibitors specialising in mobile enterprise include full service provider conVisual, Deutsche Telekom, including its T-Systems subsidiary, security software specialist G Data, Inosoft, management and technology consultants Mücke, Sturm & Company, IT service provider Nionex, consultants and software developers Pass Consulting Group, SAP specialists Realtech, micro-job agency Streetspotr and event-app developer Xomo.
