The first AMG A 45s based on Mercedes’ current generation of compacts, the W177 A-Class, recently hit the road. Boasting up to 421 HP and 500 Nm of torque, it’s a real stunner. But is that much power really necessary? As an alternative, Stuttgart-based AMG also offers a gentler introduction to their world in the A 35, which offers 306 HP and 400 Nm of torque. This model also represents a sound aesthetic basis for modifications. This A 35 now features a mighty set of wheels from Barracuda Racing Wheels as well as other modifications, such as an extensive hi-fi system.
The compact sports car sits on Project 3.0 black milled rims with Y-spoke milled contours in flash gold. Measuring in at 8.5x20", the flow-formed wheels have been mounted on the axles with 5mm spacers and fitted with 245/30 tires. The entry in the vehicle’s documents was made following a custom acceptance test as an expert report has yet to be issued for the vehicle. This AMG has been lowered using a KW Variant 3 coilover suspension from the JMS Fahrzeugteile catalog, dropping the front of this hot hatch by 45mm and the rear by 35mm.
The experts at Gladen are behind the sound system installed in this model. The Gladen Pro 165.3 (active) front system is driven by two Mosconi PRO 5|30 amplifiers, while a Gladen Pro 165.2 (active) system in the rear has been paired with a Mosconi PRO 4|10 amplifier. The center speaker and the speaker in the C-pillar remain Mercedes original parts but are now driven by a digital Mosconi Pico 4 amplifier. Rounding off the mods are three 10" Gladen Aerospace subwoofers in the rear, in turn driven by three Mosconi 1|10 amplifiers. Two digital Mosconi Aerospace 8/12 sound processors regulate the system. The rear-seat entertainment system is completed by two Ampire 4K monitors offering Android control and a link to the on-board MBUX infotainment system. Last but not least, Gladen gave this gray Mercedes a yellow and black wrap.
