- Continental Corporation donates to Welthungerhilfe
- Various local fundraising activities planned at the different Continental sites
On your marks - get set - GO! During ContiRunningWeek 2012, around 18,000 Continental employees at 90 sites will be getting involved and setting off on their runs or walks to raise money for charity. "ContiRunningDay 2008 was already a huge success. Continental employees in 20 countries around the world took part in the sports event - starting off in Asia, then in Europe and Africa, and finally in America. The running event has helped to strengthen our employees' team spirit and enabled them to form even closer bonds with each other - all around the globe. We want to take this to the next level now," said Elke Strathmann, Continental Executive Board member for human resources.
With the ContiRunningWeek, Continental is not only making a contribution to the health and long-term mobility of the company's own employees. The corporate donation to the German Welthungerhilfe organization will also help to support the health and mobility of those in need all around the world. The amount donated will be based on the number of employees taking part. At numerous sites, the ContiRunningWeek will be accompanied by events in support of local charities.
"Sport creates new networks that help to transcend hierarchies and overcome barriers. That is why my colleagues on the Executive Board actively support ContiRunningWeek 2012," says Strathmann as she explains the motivation behind the company's commitment. As a Continental-wide sports event, ContiRunningWeek 2012 will act as a stepping stone to the ContiTeamCup, the company's internal football world cup, which has been staged alongside the FIFA World CupTM since 2006.
