From November 28 to December 24, 2025, the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt will take place on the Main Market Square of Nuremberg. The Christkindlesmarkt Neighborhood in the web-app of the Nuremberg Neighborhoods, specialty routes exploring the market and tours through the festively decorated town of Nuremberg are the main focus of the Nuremberg Convention and Tourist Office (CTZ) this year.
Overnight Stays in 2024 and Forecast 2025
December 2024 registered 387,682 overnight stays. Around 60 percent were guests from within Germany while 40 percent were international visitors, an increase of 5.9 percent in comparison to the previous year. “An analysis of the booking portals for December shows very good demand for accommodations on the weekends during Advent,” explains Yvonne Coulin, Managing Director of the Nuremberg Convention and Tourist Office. “The opening weekend in particular shows a very high resonance with visitors. The forecast predicts a moderate increase from last year and we are optimistic that we will have a successful December.”

The Christkindlesmarkt can once again be explored digitally this year in the Nuremberg Neighborhoods web app. The Christkindlesmarkt Neighborhood is one of the most successful quarters within the app and offers the opportunity to experience the tradition-steeped Christmas Market from a new perspective, through anecdotes, an exciting glimpse behind the scenes and the personal stories of the merchants at the market. In addition to new spots and unique gift ideas, the app offers information about the vegan and vegetarian variety at the market. Users can also find tips about Christmas events in all of the Nuremberg Neighborhoods, inviting them to discover and enjoy. To advertise the app, 22,500 postcards were distributed in bars, restaurants and cafés in Nuremberg, Fürth and Erlangen – hoping to inspire a Christmas tour of discovery through the city and its neighborhoods.

City Tours through Festive Nuremberg

Visitors can discover the festively decorated Old Town through a classic tour, with a mulled wine trip in an historic tram or during a culinary tour of the Christkindlesmarkt featuring samples and stories about the origins and history of the market. A special highlight is a tour of the tower of St. Sebald Church, which offers an impressive view of the Christkindlesmarkt and the lights of the Old Town.
Services for Tourist Coaches
For national and international tour operators, the proven system to control the flow of tourist coaches will continue this year. Bus drop-off and pick-up points for guests will again be available in Grasersgasse and at Vestnertorgraben. The bus team can drive to a special bus parking place at Bayernstrasse for the duration of the visit. Upon entry, bus drivers receive a welcome package with an Elisen gingerbread from Lebkuchen Schmidt, a coupon for a bratwurst bun and beverage and, upon request, a ticket for public transportation.
