Drumming for Japan, marvelling at Egypt

Dance and music performances of three continents on the Delphic Festival at ITB Berlin 2012 - Collection of clips online

Berlin, (lifePR) - At the grand Final of ITB on March 11th, 2012 the international Culture Organisation "International Delphic Council" (IDC) presented highlights from all over the world. Exactly one year after the disastrous seaquake near the japanese coast, the numerous visitors of the event didn't forget about the victims of the tsunami and the nuclear accident in Fukushima.

Exciting african rhythms, soft accordion sounds, smoky greek ballads, japanese drumfire, and vertiginous Egyptian dancing - the audience of the grand ITB Final at "Palais am Funkturm" saw a striking variety of world's culture.

IDC presented its worldwide work dedicated to rivival of the Delphic Games, which were held for a period of 1 000 years as sister of the Olympic Games in ancient times.

By watching a short collection of clips about the fulminant festival you can get an impression of this remarkable event through this link (http://delphic-games.com/english/06media/media.htm).

The Delphic Games - Sister of the Olympic Games

By reviving the Delphic Games the International Delphic Council revives one of the most outstanding events of ancient times. For almost 1000 years, in ancient Greece the Delphic Games were considered one of the most important festivals and were held one year prior to the Olympic Games. While the Olympic Games were sports competitions, the Delphic Games focused on arts and cultures. They had such a high priority in ancient times that even wars and conflicts had to stop during the time of the games.

The Delphic Games are a world wide stage for bringing together arts and cultures from all countries of the world. Delphic Games and Delphic Youth Games are held every four years, at alternating places.

As fire is the symbol of the Olympic Games, water is the symbol of the Delphic Games. Prior to the games it is ladled at the castalian source in Delphi, on the south side of mount Parnassos.
