Federal Parliament Reception: Celebrating Siccess in 2013

A reception in Federal Parliament to congratulate members of the ORICA-GreenEDGE and ORICA-AIS professional road cycling teams, which both achieved great success during 2013, will be held on Tuesday evening, 3 December 2013, in Canberra.

Since 2012, Orica has sponsored Australia's first professional team on the prestigious international cycling circuit. It is a true partnership of values that brings together world-class organisations that share an Australian heritage and successfully compete on the global stage.

Collectively the men's and women's teams have now obtained over 100 victories since inception. During this season, the 2013 Tour de France saw ORICA-GreenEDGE secure the yellow leaders jersey for four consecutive days, including the fastest-ever Tour team time trial and a stage victory by Australia's Simon Gerrans. The ORICA-AIS women's team finished the season ranked number one in the world.

The Reception will be hosted by Federal Minister for Health and Minister for Sport, Hon. Peter Dutton MP. Orica senior executive Gavin Jackman will be joined by Gerry Ryan OAM, owner of GreenEDGE Cycling and President of Cycling Australia. ORICA-GreenEDGE team members present will include Simon Gerrans, Daryl Impey and Cameron Meyer. ORICA-AIS members include Gracie Elvin and Amanda Spratt.

Venue: Mural Hall, Level 2, Parliament House, Canberra

Media are invited to the Reception which will be followed by photo/video and interview opportunities with Minister Dutton, Orica and Orica-GreenEDGE and Orica-AIS athletes. Other Parliamentarians and Team Management will also be present.
