Xingcheng Steel granted the Bekaert Rod Supplier Award
The award ceremony took place in the presence of Mr Liu Jie, Chairman of the Board of CITIC Special Steel Holdings and Representative to the National People's Congress, and Mr Bert De Graeve, Chief Executive Officer of Bekaert.
Candidates for the award are evaluated against the following criteria:
- quality and processability of the wire rod in all Bekaert plants in China;
- wire rod research and development program;
- delivery conditions and general logistic support;
- supplier's responsiveness in terms of quality improvement and claim handling;
- overall effective commercial relations.
Jiangyin Xingcheng Special Steel Co., Ltd is a company jointly set up by Hong Kong CITIC Pacific Ltd and Jiangyin Steel Works. The Jiangyin based Xingcheng plant is a state-of-the-art steel mill facility which has quickly developed into a high quality wire rod producer. Xingcheng Steel has been supplying Bekaert since 2008.
During the official ceremony, Mr. Philippe Armengaud, Chief Purchasing Officer of Bekaert, stated: "The service improvement and business growth within this young cooperation have been significant. Our companies have in common that we continuously raise the bar of excellence to realize our ambitions. And we explicitly appreciate Xingcheng Steel's commitment to make those ambitions come true, together with Bekaert."

Bekaert is present with a manufacturing platform in China since the early nineties. The company experienced significant growth in China in recent years and operates 17 sites at 8 locations there (Shenyang, Weihai, Jiangyin, Wuxi, Shanghai, Suzhou, Chongqing, Huizhou), including 13 manufacturing plants, an R&D center and Engineering plant, a trading company, and the Regional Headquarters Bekaert Asia in Shanghai. At present, more than 10 000 people are working for Bekaert in China.
