Dashing through pristine snow in the sunshine of early spring

On the glacier of Kitzsteinhorn at 3.029 metres above sea level, Sun Skiing kicks off

(lifePR) (Zell am See, ) This is absolutely unique in the entire province of Salzburg: in Zell am See-Kaprun, holidaymakers can leave their traces in the snow even now that temperatures are continuously climbing. This is possible thanks to the glacier on Kaprun's 3.203-metre-high Kitzsteinhorn. The highest of the three local mountains boasts 41 kilometres of pistes in the winter season, many of which offer great skiing conditions in spring and some of them even in the summer months when down in the valley meadows are in full bloom.

At the end of March the glacier shows itself from its most beautiful side: not a cloud is visible in the sky and the gentle sun is warming the athletes on the pistes while snow conditions are as perfect as ever. Now skiers and snowboarders cannot only enjoy the best features of two seasons but the view of neighbouring Hohe Tauern National Park as well. In the winter 20 state-of-the-art cable car and lift facilities take holidaymakers up the mountain. The majority of them is still in operation now in spring. And by the way: the ride to the glacier takes you via the world's highest cable car supporting stand measuring 113.6 metres.

Fun on the pistes at an altitude of 3,029 metres above sea level and pleasant temperatures can be taken for granted. But not only downhill runs are a synonym for relaxation to the full. Especially among families the Ice Arena is a very popular destination. Here, young and old guests can look forward to a sparkling white adventure area even in midsummer. At the ice bar, on the ice beach, the magic carpet or the slides, time absolutely flies. The Ice Arena is opening its gates on 3rd July 2010.

All those who are looking for a sporting challenge have to drop in at Mellow Park. The snow park boasts three different areas which are all located at an altitude of above 2,500 metres which is a guarantee for natural snow and offers daredevil riders the opportunity to practise their new tricks on free skis or board well into March and April.
