EU waste policy has gradually developed towards linking waste management closer to energy and environmental policy as well as economic policy.
Climate change demands that all efforts are made in order to reduce CO2 emissions.
The intention of the study is to help the EU decision makers with their aims to reduce CO2 in reality, to contribute to establishing a new sustainable European society were waste is (re)used in an effective and efficient way and to contribute to energy efficiency and reduction of the dependence of fossil fuels. The study identifies the contribution member states can make to these polices if they would divert their waste from landfilling and increase their recycling and energy recovery performance.
On behalf of MEP Mrs. Mojca Murko, Prognos AG, and a European Coalition of Associations we would like to invite you to the International Press Conference, where the main results of the study will be presented.
