The initials GTI were for a long time inextricably linked with the Golf. But, at some point, VW decided that the image and success associated with this label should benefit other models as well. This paved the way for the Lupo GTI, its most recent successor – up! GTI – and, of course, the Polo GTI. The current generation of the Polo GTI has a 200 hp two-liter four-cylinder engine and therefore appeals to fans of sporty driving and tuning as well. And so, this specimen of the pint-sized firebrand was given a set of rims from Barracuda Racing Wheels.
The rims in question are the popular Barracuda Tzunamee EVO wheels – measuring 8x18” (€299), fitted with 215/35R18 standard tires and enhanced with a dark gunmetal brush finish. Even at 18”, the rims have a pronounced concavity of five centimeters and create the effect of looking significantly larger than they actually are thanks to the brushed regions on the spoke ends that reach all the way to the rim flange. The 8-millimeter spacers (€69) on the rear axle provide for perfect alignment in the wheel cases.
And finally, the compact sports car got a set of special “JMS made by H&R” springs (€249). They lower the body of the GTI by 40 millimeters on the front axle and 30 millimeters at the rear, rounding off its sporty, dynamic appearance perfectly.
