“With Georgia May Jagger and ‘Grumpy Cat’, we have two zeitgeist icons headlining our ‘Opel Wonderland of Dreams’. And then with Ellen von Unwerth, we have an extraordinary artist behind the camera who presents these models and our Opel models in a very special way. Following ‘Corsa; Karl and Choupette’, we’re now taking photography of famous cats to the next level,” says Opel Chief Marketing Officer Tina Müller about the photo production at Studio Babelsberg.
Georgia May Jagger, who has already caused a sensation in campaigns for H&M and Thomas Sabo with her unique allure, is captured in a dreamy and mystical setting. For Jagger, the 2017 Opel Calendar means again working with German star photographer and ex-model Ellen von Unwerth, known for her sometimes cool yet intensive and captivating style. Von Unwerth sets off on the journey through seasons and an array of subjects, all the while harmoniously integrating Opel vehicles as well as animal and human models.
“Grumpy Cat“, real name “Tardar Sauce“, is an Internet star. This is the first time the cat with the grumpy facial expression will be in a European automaker’s campaign. The American from Arizona is well-known to the global web audience. In addition to her Facebook page, she also stars in various YouTube videos and has also managed to get her own animatronic waxwork at Madame Tussauds.
Just like for the calendars featuring photography by Bryan Adams and Karl Lagerfeld, there will also be a vernissage for “Opel Wonderland of Dream”. So fans of Opel, Ellen von Unwerth, Georgia May Jagger and “Grumpy Cat” can already look forward to a fascinating exhibition with calendar motifs and making-of pictures at the beginning of 2017. All the artists – including “Grumpy Cat” – will be present at the vernissage!
