Number of the region's fans goes through the roof

As Austria's first holiday destination, Zell am See-Kaprun unites 10,000 fans on Facebook

(lifePR) (Zell am See, ) Facebook is the largest social network on the Internet and Zell am See-Kaprun is the Austrian holiday destination with the largest number of followers on said network. Last Sunday, the region's Facebook fan page registered member number 10,000. This makes Zell am See-Kaprun the first Austrian tourist destination to exceeded a five-digit number of fans.

For Rainer Edlinger, head of the field 'New Media' in the marketing department of Zell am See-Kaprun, this is a clear indication for a well-wrought and consequently applied social media strategy. 'To get and stay in direct contact with old and new guests is extremely important for all of us working in the tourism industry. For this reason we use the Internet intensively to cultivate and consolidate this contact.' Facebook is an essential component for maintaining a close relationship to target groups. And so are Twitter and the region's weblog.

On the occasion of exceeding the magic number of 10,000 fans, the region has decided to raffle an action weekend for two among all followers. The lucky winner of the trip to Zell am See-Kaprun is Stefan Wonnerth. He can look forward to a tandem flight with a paraglider and a guided tour to the summit of Kitzsteinhorn. The winners can even stay overnight at one of the typically Austrian Alpine huts. The other nights will be spent in a star-winning hotel.
