Windmöller Group - further growth for the anniversary year 2018!

Augustdorf, (lifePR) - Forward together. Growth is still on the agenda for the Windmöller Group with its East Westphalian locations in Augustdorf, Detmold and Bad Oeynhausen. In order to make its long-term expansion more efficient and effective, the family-run company has merged two of its companies and is launching itself into the anniversary year 2018 with a strengthened corporate structure and innovative product highlights.

The companies WPT – Windmöller Polymer Technologie GmbH, located in Detmold, and Augustdorf-based windmöller flooring products WFP GmbH merged on 1 January 2018 and now operate under the name of Windmöller GmbH with headquarters in Augustdorf. The merger of the market-leading acoustic mat manufacturer and organic PU technological leader WPT with WFP’s complete flooring division is bundling strengths, simplifying processes and realising synergies.

In economic terms as well, the family-run company can give a positive account of itself for 2017. With an accumulated turnover of 163 million euros and an export share of 32 %, the group generated a sales growth of 5 %, compared to the previous year and only just fell short of the set targets in a turbulent year.

“We had to accept slight reductions in earnings as a result of incalculable price fluctuations in the extraction of raw materials. Over all, we are satisfied and are continuing to focus on international growth, the expansion of global contract sales, innovative product and technological developments and last but not least digital transformation. The key competencies of the two plants in Augustdorf and Detmold will continue to be enhanced”, says Matthias Windmöller, principal shareholder of the Windmöller Group. And that was why substantial sums were invested in the 2016 and 2017 financial years. At the Detmold plant, around 10 million euros went towards the expansion of halls and facilities. At the Augustdorf plant, a new boiler house and new cutting facilities were put into operation in 2017 with aggregate investment of 5 million euros.

For 2018, the Group is planning for consolidated growth in sales to reach 160 million euros with an export share of 36 % and the expansion of the workforce from its current 470 to around 490 employees. The long-established family-run company will have reasons for celebration in September: 70 years of Windmöller!

With “ecuran” into a new era of flooring

A substantial contribution to growth and sustainability will be made by the high-performance composite material “ecuran”, that was developed by Windmöller. This product constitutes the material basis for the successful PURLINE organic flooring as well as the acoustic mats and insulation material assortment. This globally unique working material is manufactured in the Detmold plant and is based on “bio-polyurethane”, a solution made from renewable plant-based oils such as canola or castor oil and naturally-occurring components such as chalk. It provides completely new and flexible possibilities for modern and high-performance flooring products. The intention is that ecuran, together with market partners from the flooring industry, should be established internationally as an independent category for “organic PU flooring” and as a synonym for sustainable elastic flooring.

wineo is also forecasting growth for laminate and design flooring

Windmöller is already impressing with the wineo 400 collection that was launched at the beginning of the year. Quite a few successful trade listings could have been realized beforehand on the now fiercely contested market. In the new wineo 400, wineo is presenting a highly attractive collection in a variety of formats for gluing, clicking and as an HDF Multi-Layer with registered embossed surface in XL format.

To stimulate laminate sales, Windmöller is putting its faith in a new generation of this classical flooring solution that goes by the name of “performance laminate flooring”. Fresh designs, the strong marketing concept “Rock’n’Go” and exclusive features such as Aqua-Stop, Sound-Stop and Install Ready will ensure a positive development in the difficult laminate market.
