Trevira CS after-show report: MoOD Brussels 2009

Hattersheim, (lifePR) - Suppliers of Trevira CS again make up third of exhibitors

290 suppliers presented their latest collections at MoOD in September and despite the economic crisis and the fallback in demand for home textiles, the Brussels trade fair for high-value textile qualities maintained its position as the important international forum for interior designers and contract furnishers. Along with the great majority of exhibitors, fibre manufacturer Trevira was this year pleased with the way the event took its course. Trevira CS partners once again formed about a third of the exhibitors, and visitors from the wholesale trade, the furniture industry, the contract market and retail were able to learn about a whole series of new developments in upholstery fabrics and decorative textiles for wall and window.

On the Trevira stand they could view a selection of new Trevira CS materials from 27 suppliers. The message coming from the stand focused on "sustainability". While flame retardancy continues to be the basic prerequisite for suppliers in the contract business, Trevira CS textiles are now increasingly being sought for their design and fabric quality and are, as a consequence, found more and more in collections for the private market.

Trevira CS Award goes to Vanelli Tekstil

This year the award by Trevira for the most attractive and innovative Trevira CS collection went to the well-known Turkish weaver Vanelli Tekstil for his "Lifestyle" collection.

Celebrating its eightieth year in 2009, Vanelli employs a 650 strong workforce in Bursa, working with modern machinery. They operate multi-stage manufacturing processes, covering spinning, twisting, dyeing, printing, weaving and making-up. The sales organisation runs under the Dina Vanelli brand. Vanelli works closely together with customers, and is able to offer the opportunity for joint development of exclusive designs. The company regularly appears at MoOD, as well as at Heimtextil and other events in the industry.

"The drapes and decorative fabrics Vanelli presented at MoOD stand out with their fantastic handle" says Anke Vollenbröker, Head of Marketing Trevira CS at Trevira. "These are reconstructions of natural fibres, with the appearance of wool or cotton. Through the use of different techniques and fancy yarns, surfaces are created that are traditionally achieved by blends with natural fibres - yet these fabrics consist 100 per cent of flame retardant Trevira yarns."

Produced by a team of twenty designers, the collection fulfils the claim of company head Erol Türkün to supply customers with exclusive designs employing state-of-the-art technology. "It was our aim to use a hi-tech material that can meet the functional requirements, and at the same time create textiles that satisfy the demands for elegant design, a pleasant handle and a natural look. The large range of yarns includes many interesting fancy varieties, and offers fresh opportunities to achieve more and more striking effects, and do this without blends with other materials."
