Brendan Fairclough starts the world cup in the top 10
The first world cup of the season in Lourdes, France, was a tough test for all the athletes
You can get on board with Claudio and watch the first try of the track right here.
Brendan Fairclough was able to stay on his bike and on the track during his qualifying run on Saturday, which many of the other top riders couldn’t. Brendan qualified in 6th position.
On sunday, the sun was out for the first time of the week. Completely different conditions than in training set a new challenge for the athletes. They didn’t know what to expect, was it going to be dry, or was it still going to be slippery? Brendan managed to stay cool and place in 10th position with a spectacular run, choosing lines that no others have chosen.
Neko Mulally struggled a little more with the wet conditions in France, placing 21st in qualifying and crashing in the finals. It’s only 10 days until we’re back on track at the world cup in Cairns, Australia though, where Neko gets his next chance to show his speed, - and we won’t have to expect any cold temperatures in the jungle.
Gstaad-Scott is already on its way back to Switzerland, to then catch the flight to Australia immediately.
