Developments in traffic at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden Airports in May

Passenger numbers grow at both airports - air freight in Leipzig/Halle continues to increase significantly

(lifePR) (Leipzig, ) 394,865 passengers passed through the two commercial airports operated by Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, Leipzig/Halle and Dresden, in May. Dresden International Airport

The number of passengers using Dresden Airport in May was 161,962; this was 2.4 percent higher than the figure in the previous year. The routes to Hamburg, Basel, Zurich and Moscow contributed to this growth process.

The number of aircraft movements rose significantly; 2,881 take-offs and landings took place at the airport in May, an increase of seven percent compared to the same month in the previous year.

Leipzig/Halle Airport

232,903 passengers passed through Leipzig/Halle Airport in May this year. The result was therefore 11.4 percent higher than the figure twelve months ago. The number of aircraft movements in May (5,597 take-offs and landings) remained almost exactly the same as in the previous year.

Further significant growth in freight volumes at Leipzig/Halle Airport

Freight volumes increased by 5.4 percent to a figure of more than 81,942 tonnes in May this year at Leipzig/Halle Airport, Germany's second-largest cargo hub, in comparison with the previous year. As a result, 2015 is continuing the long-term growth process in the wake of 2014, which set a new record for the tenth time in succession; the figures easily exceed the German national average. Freight volumes between January and May this year amounted to 397,728 tonnes, eight percent higher than the figure for the previous year.
