DZ BANK AG adds to management team: Hans-Theo Macke and Thomas Ullrich appointed as Members of the Board of Managing Directors

Frankfurt am Main, (lifePR) - The Supervisory Board of DZ BANK AG has appointed Hans-Theo Macke (60) and Thomas Ullrich (47) as members of the Board of Managing Directors of DZ BANK AG. Hans-Theo Macke will join DZ BANK AG's Board of Managing Directors by 1 September 2009 at the latest and will be responsible for SMEs and the Cooperative Financial Services Network. Wolfgang Kirsch, Chief Executive Officer of DZ BANK AG: "In the person of Hans-Theo Macke we have appointed an experienced and highly esteemed bank manager to our Board of Managing Directors. He has worked successfully for the Cooperative Financial Services Network for a long time and stands for close cooperation with the local cooperative banks."

Thomas Ullrich is to join the Board of Managing Directors of DZ BANK as of 1 October 2009. From this point in time onwards he is to remain on the Board of Managing Directors of WGZ BANK for a transitional period of 6 months. This is still to be approved by the boards of WGZ BANK. Thomas Ullrich is to assume responsibility at DZ BANK for the IT/Organisation and Operations & Services divisions. Wolfgang Kirsch: "We are pleased to be able to advance the cooperation between the two central institutes in the Cooperative Financial Services Network in important business segments with the appointment of Thomas Ullrich. He has been appointed in close consultation with and with the full agreement of the Chief Executive Officer of WGZ BANK, Werner Böhnke. This relates especially to the strategic business segment Transaction Banking, in which we intend to extend our cooperation and reap synergies for the cooperative financial services network under the management of Thomas Ullrich."

Since 2006 Hans-Theo Macke has been Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Genossenschafts- Hypothekenbank AG in Hamburg, a subsidiary of DZ BANK AG. During this period he managed the reorganisation of DG HYP into a commercial property financier. He had previously been a member of the Board of Managing Directors of Westerwald Bank eG since 1992, and had been Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors there since 2001. His career had previously included positions in particular at Deutsche Bundesbank, for which he worked from 1978 to 1988, most recently as Bundesbank Director. Hans-Theo Macke trained as a wholesale trader and import and export merchant. He studied business economics and economic and business pedagogics in Hamburg and graduated in business administration and management studies and as a teacher of commerce. He is married and has four children.

Since 2000, Thomas Ullrich has been a Member of the Board of Managing Directors of WGZ BANK AG in Düsseldorf, for which he has worked since 1981. He is responsible there for Organisation and Operations, Payments and Financial Market Operations. From 1997 to 2000 he managed the domestic and international payments product division at WGZ BANK. Previous professional positions there were connected in particular with the development and management of sales- and product support payments systems/electronic banking. Ullrich is a fully trained bank officer and graduated in business economics in Essen, Hagen and at the University of Wales as Master of Business Administration. He is married and has two children.
