RideExpo 2015 - Derby Cycle launches New Test Ride & Order Event in Ruhpolding
With the support of event agency FRIENDS the town of Ruhpolding, otherwise better known for its Biathlon World Championships, became the probably largest Bike Camp in Germany: 168 bikes on exhibition, more than 200 bikes to test and the same number of test track kilometers - from the flat bike path up to the technically demanding downhill. The event showcased purely new 2016er models of Focus, Cervélo and the sportive-elegant E-Bike highlights Kalkhoff Integrale and Include. Even dozens of high-end race bikes of the 9,000 € class were open for testing throughout the entire event.
New Full-Suspension MTBs from Focus
Marking the new full-suspension classes the Focus Spine (120mm travel) and SAM Carbon (160mm travel) were getting the full attention of the audience. Their launch had been the main reason to choose Ruhpolding for the bike camp, its alpine landscape assured adequate testing of the highly advanced fullys. Focus additionally presented the new XC hardtail race weapon Raven Max and the comprehensive 2016er E-MTB collection: E-Fully Throne, E-Hardtail Jarifa - on voluminous 2.4" tires - and the world premiere Jarifa I29 with 50 cells / 612 Wh battery uniquely integrated into the downtube. The Jarifa I29 shares its battery integration and corresponding Impulse EVO engine with the recently launched Kalkhoff Integrale e-bike - however in a specific off-road configuration.
The Focus presentation was topped up by road bikes with disc brakes, featured in cyclocrosser Focus Mares, the Focus Cayo and high-end race bike Izalco Max. In addition, Focus offered a large assortment of cool casual wear that sold like hotcakes.
Cervélo: World's first encounters Bavarian tradition Cervélo, the famous high-end high-tech bike brand for race and triathlon, scored a world's first with the new MTN QHUBEKA Team Edition of the highly appraised S5. With its unique iridescent lacquer this Cervélo gem draws all the attention not only in Ruhpolding but also at the Tour d 'France 2015.
Next to bikes and rides the party was not neglected in Ruhpolding. A hearty beer garden and typical Bavarian food and traditional "Schuhplattler" and "Schnalzler" provided a nice contrast to the high-tech on display. Entertainment was at its best with the RideExpo Bike Biathlon in the Chiemgau Arena on Sunday night. Teams of dealers and employees had to ride on Focus bikes and shot with original biathlon rifles under the guidance of former biathlon Olympic champion Fritz Fischer.
For Focus and Cervélo the RideExpo was a highly successful Bike Camp premiere. Thomas Raith, CEO of Derby Cycle: "Over the entire expo our customers have tested our Focus and Cervélo bikes with real enthusiasm. This shows that we are on the right track with the direction the brands have developed. With the new full-suspension models we definitely caught up with the top class competition and I received nothing but positive feedback for our new E-MTB models. This and the pre-orders we could score here in Ruhpolding let us head very optimistically into the new season. "
