Rheinland-Pfalz is active in organ donations

The sponsor of the initiative "(M)ein Klick fürs Leben" (one click for life), Julia Klöckner, is confident about 2011

(lifePR) (Koblenz, ) Compared to other states, Rheinland-Pfalz is in the lead regarding the number of organ donors, according to an analysis carried out by the Deutsche Stiftung Organtransplantation (German Foundation for Organ Transplantation). With the initiative "(M)ein Klick fürs Leben," CompuGroup Medical is keeping the focus on this topic, because on average, three people per day are still dying in Germany because there is no organ available to save their life.

The number of organ donors is growing in Rheinland-Pfalz. Based on preliminary numbers, 86 donors were registered in 2010, 27 more than the prior year. A total of 321 organs were obtained from these donors (185 in 2009), reported the DSO (German Foundation for Organ Transplantation) at the beginning of the year. In order to increase the willingness to donate organs, CompuGroup Medical is actively addressing the physicians and residents of Rheinland-Pfalz with an initiative for the topic of organ donation.

The sponsor, Julia Klöckner, is optimistic about the growth in the number of donors and the initiative: "I am very optimistic about 2011 - three fourth of all residents are willing to donate their organs after their death, but do not have an organ donor ID. We need more education and support so these people will also document their decision. This is exactly the approach we are taking with our "(M)ein Klick fürs Leben" initiative."

CompuGroup Medical has sent flyers with 2 donor organ ID's each to 670,000 households and 700 medical offices in Rheinland-Pfalz. An additional 6,000 flyers were provided to the sponsor, Julia Klöckner, to be distributed by district associations during healthcare policy events. In addition, the company is inviting physicians to approach their patients via the doctor information system, since organ donor ID's are primarily filled out by people that have been educated about it. It is the initiative's goal to motivate as many people as possible to address this important topic, to think about it and to make a conscious decision.

Organ donor ID's can be downloaded easily from the Internet at www.mein-klick-fuers-leben.de. The web site also provides information about the initiative and the topic of organ donation.
