Stars from the international art scene to attend B3
B3 launches call for entries
Prof. Bernd Kracke, the artistic director of the B3, has also announced the first top-class participants of the Biennial of the Moving Image in fall 2017.
South African video artist Candice Breitz, winner of the B3 „BEN” Award in 2013, will be in Frankfurt once again with a world premiere. In her works she looks behind the scenes of mass culture. Before her appearance at B3 she will represent her native South Africa at the 57th Venice Biennale with her fellow artist Mohau Modisakeng.
German artist Julian Rosefeldt has also accepted his invitation. In his film installation „Manifesto” (2015) the German filmmaker had Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett play 13 different characters. The cinema version of „Manifesto” premiered at the beginning of January 2017 at the Sundance Film Festival in the United States.
Breitz and Rosefeldt have both said they will create works specially for the main B3 exhibition on the key topic „On Desire.”
From November 29 until December 3, 2017 the B3 Biennial of the Moving Image will for the third time present the latest trends and developments in the area of the moving image in Frankfurt/Main and the Rhine-Main region.
