The ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics (IMA) supports the funding and presentation of electronic music in particular and the technological development of electronic and digital components for music in general. During February and March 2016 IMA invites the Dutch cultural collective 4DSOUND to reside in the rooms of ZKM | Karlsruhe.
4DSOUND explores spatial sound as a medium. Since 2008, it has developed an innovative spatial sound technology that has significantly improved and expanded the possibilities to create, perform and experience sound spatially. 4DSOUND is a fully omnidirectional sound environment, where the listener can appreciate sound in a virtually unlimited spatial continuum.
Within the context of this collaboration IMA and 4DSOUND award composers, musicians, sound artists and music programmers two working grants for the creation or composition of new electro-acoustic works. The grants are intended for on-site work at the ZKM in Karlsruhe from February 8th until March 8th 2016.

Open call for participants Spatial Sound Hack Lab
Within the framework of 'Performing Sound, Playing Technology’, a festival on contemporary musical instruments and interfaces, 4DSOUND and ZKM host a spatial Sound Hack Lab. We invite artists and hackers to explore the 4DSOUND system using a variety of tools, instruments and interfaces of their own choice, culminating in new experiments in sound, music, and performance.
