Prof. Wang is Vice President of the Shanghai Skin Diseases & STD Hospital and heads its Skin & Cosmetic Research Department. He is a specialist in cosmetic dermatology, especially in hyperpigmentation, acne, contact dermatitis, photo dermatitis and sensitive skin. In addition, Prof. Wang researches in the area of traditional Chinese medicine.
Numerous activities as Director, executive board member and as a consultant in medical institutions and societies have given Prof. Wang the utmost expertise in the field of Chinese cosmetic dermatology. He is a member of the Chinese Health Ministry’s National Committee for the standardization of cosmetic tests as well as being Director of three Shanghai institutes concerned with quality testing and evaluation of medical and cosmetic products as well as diagnosis of skin diseases. As an executive board member he advises various associations, including the Chinese Medical Association, the China Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine Association and the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. In addition, he is a member of the editorial boards of numerous Chinese and international professional journals such as ‘Contact Dermatitis’ and the 'International Journal of Dermatology and Venerology’. His research projects have been awarded several prizes, among these the Advanced Prize of the Shi Shimin Foundation and Shanghai Medical Association (2002). Prof. Xuemin Wang completed his graduate and post-doctoral medical training in Shanghai, Australia, the USA (Cincinnati, Harvard) and France (Nancy).
