The DMC complex, located in the North-western region of Seoul, is only 30 minutes away from Incheon International Airport, the gateway to Korea as well as a premier hub in East Asia's air transportation. Downtown Seoul is readily accessible by main roads or the subway from the new facility. Messe Frankfurt Korea's new location is also approximately 30 minutes from the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX), Korea's largest exhibition venue (108,483sqm) where over 60 shows take place annually.
The new office is within Nuritkum Square, a government-sponsored office complex that was designed for collaboration between a range of industries in the DMC complex. Mr Yong-Joon Jin, Managing Director, Messe Frankfurt Korea Ltd noted: "Nuritkum Square and the overall DMC complex provides a number of opportunities for Messe Frankfurt in Korea. Several leading media and entertainment firms as well as research institutes are moving into the area. By 2015, the DMC complex is expected to have approximately 600 tenants. Since Messe Frankfurt Korea started operations in May 2001, our business has grown exponentially." The firm has gone through a restructuring process, and is now made up of four business units for textile fairs; consumer goods fairs; technical and lifetime fairs; as well as incoming fairs and new business.
Mr Yong-Joon Jin added: "It is in my belief that by positioning ourselves within Nuritkum Square, Messe Frankfurt Korea is well placed to take advantage of the growth in Korea's exhibition industry."
Messe Frankfurt Korea was established in order to recruit Korean exhibitors to the parent company's fairs around the world. The firm has worked closely with both the Korean Trade-Investment and Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Association of Korean Exhibition Industries. In 2011, the Korean subsidiary had brought approximately 1,000 exhibitors to Messe Frankfurt's shows worldwide, and sold over 20,000sqm in booth space. Currently, Messe Frankfurt Korea organises one biennial fair domestically, Korea Railways & Logistics Fair. Located within the port city of Busan, this is one of the world's leading industrial exhibitions for railway technology, infrastructure and logistics.
