Love, danger – and grammar: German learners and teachers around the world are waiting eagerly for the third season of "Jojo sucht das Glück" (Jojo's Search for Happiness). The new series adds another 33 episodes to this entertaining e-learning program produced by Deutsche Welle (DW).
As of Thursday, December 11, the new season of the award-winning multimedia language course series goes online. German teachers use "Jojo sucht das Glück" in the classroom, enabling German learners around the world to follow a new episode every week for 33 weeks. As part of the offering there are further interactive exercises to make learning German entertaining and fun. DW is aiming the telenovela primarily at the younger generation among the 14 million German learners worldwide, who want to develop a deeper knowledge of the German language.
In the new series, the protagonist Jojo reaches her emotional and physical limits in her search for happiness. She runs into danger in her job at an event management agency, she helps a girlfriend through a difficult time and bumps into an old flame. The third series was filmed in Bonn and Cologne. The director, Christian Singh, brings with him experience in directing soap operas for German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF. The actors Renée Weibel and Verena Zimmermann are well-known from the ARD series "Verbotene Liebe," or "Forbidden Love."
"The entertaining and humorous story makes learning grammar and vocabulary attractive," says André Moeller, head of Educational Programs at DW Akademie. Fans of the program are also encouraged to follow Jojo on her Facebook page, where they can virtually take part in her life.
DW's diverse German language learning formats get around six million hits per month. The promotion of the German language is part of Deutsche Welle's official charter. DW makes it possible to learn German in an interactive and flexible way, with entry portals in 30 languages.
