Double podium for Teka Suzuki Mx Teams in German opener

(lifePR) (Bensheim, ) The competitive 2010 ADAC MX Masters German Championship got underway this weekend at Drehna for the first round of eight in the national contest - and Rockstar Teka Suzuki World MX1 and Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2 teams were out in force with RM-Z450WS riders Steve Ramon and Clement Desalle taking second and third overall and Ken Roczen and Arnaud Tonus fourth and sixth on their RM-Z250s.

The quartet were part of a five-strong rider group in the first six classified at Drehna in what was a Suzuki 'romp' of the domestic series opener.

Sunshine and good conditions made for a perfect racing setting south of Berlin at the sandy and twisty circuit. Indeed the technical terrain provided amply chance for preparation for the third round of the FIM Motocross World Championship, due to occur on a similar surface in Holland next week.

Belgian champion Desalle overtook holeshotting team-mate Ramon in the first moto of the format that sees the MX1 and MX2 bikes mixed. The Belgian was able to escape for his first victory for the factory team in the German competition. Roczen was catching the Rockstar Teka Suzuki pair at one stage, which forced Desalle to up his pace. The German was not riding so comfortably across the sand and was passed by countryman Max Nagl by the flag, ending up fourth, while Ramon was second. Tonus made a bright start but crashed on the third corner and had to spend the rest of the moto recovering from last place to take 13th.

In the second sprint, Nagl fled unhindered to the finish line and earned the overall win. Ramon was a steady second place once again while Desalle slipped off entering the first corner and again made another mistake later in the race; he finished 5th as Roczen and Tonus had settled into the demands of the course and captured 3rd and 4th respectively.

"I was a bit tight with my riding in the first moto but I was happier with the second," commented 15-year-old starlet Roczen. "Most of all I can take some confidence from my start, which was an improvement over Mantova last week. This was a good event to do before Valkenswaard: The terrain is pretty similar, even if there are a lot of slow corners here and I couldn't really keep a high corner speed with the 250. It was pretty difficult to pass. Anyway, we go to Holland now and I'm looking forward to it."

Round three of the FIM World Championship will take place next weekend at the Valkenswaard 'Eurocircuit' near the city of Eindhoven for the Grand Prix of Benelux.

Round two of the ADAC MX Masters will occur at Freising on May 22-23rd.
