100 Years of Now. The Kick-Off

Wed, Sept 30 - Sun, Oct 4 / Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin

(lifePR) (Berlin, ) World Politics - Dream States - Data Streams: 100 Years of Now combines diagnoses of our times with scopes of action. In its latest long-term project, HKW examines the interrelations between global conflicts, classification systems and technologies. The kick-off between September 30 and October 4, 2015 will gather artists, scientists, activists and observers of the times in unusual constellations.

From the Technosphere - the mesh of technologies and social and natural processes that span the planet - to Speaking from Prison and Speaking from the Laboratory, they will explore Time's Attack on the Rest of Life - with reference to historical utopias, revolutions and imaginations. The Dreaming Collectives of capitalism are confronted with geopolitical analyses and transformed into speculations on the Next War. Installations lend memories and States of Mind a voice.

Featuring the science sociologist Helga Nowotny, the artists' collective Slavs and Tatars, the novelist Rana Dasgupta, the artist Reto Pulfer, the bands zeitkratzer, F.S.K., and Trümmer, the filmmaker Jihan El-Tahri, the philosopher Michel Feher, the actors Ulrich Matthes and Burghart Klaußner, the historian and science and technology scholar Clapperton C. Mavhunga, the technology sociologist Donald MacKenzie, the anthropologist Lucy A. Suchman and many more.

100 Years of Now is a long-term project by HKW (2015-2018) that looks at current social trends in an historical context.
